How is a Brow Lift Performed?

Drooping brows and a wrinkled forehead can make you look tired or even angry. You can restore a younger-looking brow area with a brow lift. This procedure removes skin and repositions the underlying muscles to give you a more rested, bright-eyed appearance. Endoscopic techniques have made brow lifts a minimally invasive procedure.

What is a Brow Lift?

A brow lift corrects the effects of aging on the skin and underlying structures of your brow and forehead. The procedure smooths your forehead and lifts your brows. It provides a more youthful, wide-awake look without visible scars. A brow lift makes an excellent solution for those whose drooping brows hang over their eyes or whose forehead has become loose and wrinkled.

How is a Brow Lift Performed?

A brow lift can be performed using several different techniques. At Specialty Aesthetic Surgery, surgeons most often perform an endoscopic brow lift. This minimally invasive method uses small incisions to insert a tiny camera and tools. In most cases, the surgeon can lift and reposition the skin and muscles using only these tiny incisions. Your surgeon may need to make larger incisions. All scars are hidden behind your hairline and almost impossible to see.

What Can a Brow Lift Treat?

A brow lift can significantly change the appearance of your upper face. Since facelifts do most of their work on the mid and lower face, a brow lift offers the best option for sagging in the upper face area. After a brow lift, you can expect:

  • Smoother, tighter forehead skin
  • A more youthful position for your brows
  • Fewer forehead lines and wrinkles
  • No more skin overhanging the eyes

Loose skin that sags down over your eyes can be more than a cosmetic problem. A brow lift can improve your vision by removing this excess skin. While you may not have noticed this loose skin gradually blocking your peripheral vision, you will see the difference when it is gone.

What is Recovery Like From a Brow Lift?

Most people experience some discomfort during the first week after surgery. We recommend sleeping on your back to prevent straining your sutures. Bruising will fade, and swelling will significantly improve during the first few weeks. Most people can go back to work within seven to ten days. You can resume your usual exercise routine after four weeks. You may have some residual swelling for several months after the procedure.

What Results Will I See After a Brow Lift?

You will notice a smoother forehead and lifted brows immediately after surgery, but swelling will keep you from seeing your final results for several weeks. You can expect your results to last for many years. However, aging will continue, and your skin will change in the future. While most people remain happy with their results, others have a touch-up procedure years later.

Do I Need a Brow Lift or Eyelid Lift?

If you have loose skin that hides your eyes, you may have sagging brows, drooping eyelids, or both. An eyelid lift works best for people concerned about loose eyelid skin. A brow lift works better for those with more concerns with their forehead and brows. Many people have issues with both areas and choose to have both procedures. Your surgeon will customize a procedure for you to improve your eye and brow area.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Brow Lift?

You may be a good candidate for a brow lift if you have loose forehead skin and drooping brows. Most people make good candidates if they are in good health and have reasonable expectations. A brow lift is not recommended for those who have certain medical conditions, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or cannot take adequate time to recover afterward.

How Much Does a Brow Lift Cost?

The cost of your brow lift will vary depending on where you live and your chosen provider. The type of brow lift and the complexity of your procedure will also have an effect. Each brow lift is a unique procedure and will cost more or less depending on the details. Schedule a consultation so you can have an accurate estimate based on your individual needs.

How to Choose a Surgeon for Your Brow Lift

When choosing a surgeon for your brow lift, you should consider their qualifications, experience, and patient results. Look for a board-certified surgeon who specializes in facial procedures. They will have the most experience working with delicate facial structures. You should also look at before and after photos to see what you might expect your results to look like.
