How Long Does Dysport® Last?

Some people call them frown lines, and others call them the “11’s”. These vertical lines between the brows can give you a scowl that never goes away. Dysport® treats the muscles that cause these lines so your skin can relax and look smoother.

What is Dysport®?

Those vertical frown lines, also known as glabellar lines, form when you frown or make other facial expressions. Muscles pull the brows together, creasing and folding the skin. Over time, these creases become deeper and more noticeable. Dysport® is FDA-approved to treat these glabellar lines. Dysport® stops the action of the muscles, so your skin has a chance to relax and let go of its lines and folds.

How Does Dysport® Work?

Dysport® uses a neurotoxin called botulinum toxin type A. Botox® and Xeomin® use slightly different versions. When injected, it targets the nerves that tell the muscles to contract. It interrupts the signals, so the muscle temporarily stops working.

How Long Does Dysport® Last?

For people new to using Dysport® or similar products, results last three to four months. For people who have had regular treatments, results can last as long as six months. To keep your wrinkle-free results, you can safely have Dysport® as many times as desired.

Dysport® vs. Botox®

Dysport®, Botox®, and Xeomin® use very similar versions of the botulinum toxin. They all act on the facial nerves the same way, so choosing between them requires an injection specialist with knowledge of where each one will excel. Dysport® uses a slightly smaller version of the toxin, allowing it to spread out more when injected. When used in places like the forehead, this acts as a bonus but may not be ideal in other areas.

Is There Any Downtime With Dysport®?

Treatment with Dysport® usually takes less than 15 minutes. You can go back to work or your daily activities immediately. Some people may have small bruises or minor swelling. These will resolve without treatment.

What Results Will I See With Dysport®?

You will start to see results within a few days. You should see your full results develop within a week or two. Dysport® is usually used between the brows or on the forehead. You will see a noticeable improvement in your lines and wrinkles while maintaining your natural facial expressions.

Am I a Good Candidate for Dysport®?

If you have lines and wrinkles between your brows, you might make a good candidate for Dysport®. It works safely for most people, and this type of product has been in use for decades.
