How Long Does A Facelift Last?

Many men and women are turning to facelift procedures to reverse visible signs of aging and sun-damage. It’s a procedure that’s able to produce near-instant results with long-lasting outcomes. There are many types of facelifts that can be customized according to an individual’s age, concerns, and goals.

At Specialty Aesthetic Surgery, our highly-skilled, board-certified surgeons work with each patient individually to ensure an optimal outcome for their specific situation. We have not one but two expert surgeons who pride themselves on providing natural-looking results with minimal downtime.

What Long-Term Results Can You Expect?

Most patients see initial results immediately with gradual improvement as any post-surgical swelling subsides. Optimal outcomes can be seen in several weeks to several months. The procedure involves repositioning fat pads, removing excess skin, and tightening underlying muscles for long-term rejuvenation.

A full facelift procedure can last upwards of 10-15 years with proper skin care and a healthy lifestyle. Less invasive procedures like a mid-facelift can offer significant anti-aging with very little recovery. These procedures typically need to be repeated anywhere from 2-6 years down the line as the natural aging process continues.

Many men and women are happy with the results of their procedure for a lifetime to come and do not seek out secondary procedures. All in all, you’ll always look more youthful than if you hadn’t had the procedure in the first place.

Prolonging the Effects of Your Procedure

Aging is inevitable. However, there are certain things that you can do to prolong the effects of your facelift procedure. Those include:

  • Follow aftercare instructions: The best way to see an optimal outcome from your surgery is to closely follow your surgeon’s post-operative recovery plan.
  • Drink lots of water: Staying hydrated is essential for smooth, healthy skin and can significantly extend the results of your facelift.
  • Avoid alcohol & smoking: Smoking is a huge no-no when it comes to keeping skin happy and healthy. Both smoking and heavy alcohol use can prematurely dry out the skin.
  • Practice sun protection: One of the best ways to slow the aging process is by avoiding excessive sun exposure. Use a broad-spectrum SPF regularly.

While there isn’t a single treatment that can stop the aging clock entirely, there are ways to significantly improve the rate of decline. Facelift procedures are ideal for men and women that want to look and feel years younger without needing regular in-office visits. After an in-person evaluation, our skilled surgeons will be able to help determine how long your procedure may last.
