How Long Does Juvederm® Last?

Dermal fillers have many uses. They offer a non-surgical way to restore lost volume, boost and enhance your features, and smooth lines and wrinkles. The Juvederm® family of fillers safely adds volume so you can restore your youthful appearance. Each Juvederm® formula works for a different part of the face so your provider can fine-tune your results.

What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are bio-safe materials injected into the skin to add volume. This volume can lift and smooth lines and wrinkles. It can also restore lost volume or add fullness to the cheeks, sculpt the chin, and make lips look plumper. Dermal fillers use several different materials, and each has unique properties. Your Specialty Aesthetic Surgery specialist will determine which type of filler will work best for your needs.

Dermal Fillers

What is Juvederm®?

The Juvederm® family of fillers uses hyaluronic acid (HA) to add volume. HA is a large molecule that occurs naturally in your skin. It has become a popular skincare ingredient due to its ability to attract and hold moisture. HA works as a dermal filler because it can form cross-links and chains that affect its behavior. Some Juvederm® fillers have a thick, dense formula, while others have a more fluid, smoother formula. These properties affect how your provider uses them.

How Long Does Juvederm® Last?

Factors that affect how long Juvederm® lasts include the area of the face and the filler formula. Fillers that add volume and shape to the cheeks have a thicker formula than those intended for a flexible areas like the lips.

Juvederm® Volbella

This filler adds volume to the lips. It can also correct fine lines around the mouth. It moves with you, so your facial expressions look natural. It can last up to one year.

Juvederm® Vollure

This filler corrects lines and wrinkles. It works well for lines and wrinkles around the mouth, such as nasolabial folds and marionette lines. It lasts up to eighteen months.

Juvederm® Voluma

This filler is used on the cheeks and chin. Its resilient formula can lift cheeks that have lost volume. It can also add definition and projection to your chin. It lasts up to two years in the cheeks and a year in the chin.

Juvederm® Ultra

This formula excels for adding or replacing volume in the lips. Its ability to move fluidly lets your lips move in a way that looks completely natural. It can last up to one year.

Juvederm® Ultra Plus

This filler for moderate to severe wrinkles works for deep creases and folds, including nasolabial folds and marionette lines. It typically lasts up to one year.

How Much Does Juvederm® Cost?

Dermal fillers such as Juvederm® are usually priced by the syringe. Depending on the areas you have treated, you may require more than one syringe. Pricing varies between providers and in different areas. Different Juvederm® formulas may also have different pricing. Schedule a visit for an accurate estimate based on your goals.

Do I Need Botox® or Juvederm®?

These two injectables treat lines and wrinkles, but they are not interchangeable. They treat different kinds of wrinkles. Botox® treats lines that form from muscle movements that crease and fold the skin. It works by relaxing the muscles and smoothing away wrinkles. Juvederm® works on lines that result from facial volume loss or age-related skin laxity. Both are very safe and effective, and many people have both in different parts of the face.

How to Choose a Juvederm® Provider

At Specialty Aesthetic Surgery, your providers have extensive training and experience using dermal fillers. In addition to Juvederm®, they can offer several other types of fillers if they think those will work better for you. Your Juvederm® injector should have a strong knowledge of facial anatomy, so your enhancement looks natural and smooth.

Is There Any Downtime After Juvederm®?

Juvederm® treatment only takes 15 to 20 minutes. You can return to your usual activities immediately afterward. Any slight swelling or bruising typically disappears within a day or two. Follow your aftercare instructions so that the dermal filler has time to settle into place.

Am I a Good Candidate for Juvederm®?

Most people over the age of 21 make good candidates for Juvederm®. Your body recognizes HA as a familiar material, and adverse reactions are extremely uncommon. If you want to add volume to your cheeks, shape your chin, plump your lips, or smooth wrinkles, Juvederm® can help. You should not have Juvederm® if you have a skin infection or sores, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have had a reaction to an HA product before.
