How Long is Recovery from a Neck Lift?

Do you have sagging skin around your jaw and neck? Do you have deep neck wrinkles and bands (lines encircling your neck)?

If that’s the case, you may be a good candidate for neck lift surgery.

This popular cosmetic procedure helps correct signs of neck aging by repositioning neck muscles, removing sagging skin, and smoothing away the appearance of deep neck lines and wrinkles. The results of a neck lift can be transformative, especially when combined with facelift surgery.

Want to learn more about this surgery, including how long your neck lift recovery might be? Let’s take a look!

How Long Will My Neck Lift Recovery Be?

No two neck lift recoveries are the same. However, you can expect your neck lift recovery to loosely follow these milestones:

  • You’ll likely feel groggy during your first 24 to 48 hours after your neck lift surgery. This is normal, and often the result of the general anesthesia used during your procedure. Plan on doing a lot of resting and recuperating after your surgery.
  • You’ll start to feel a little more like yourself after a week of recovery. Depending on your healing (which in turn depends on the extent of your surgery), you may be able to return to work after 7-10 days. In many cases, a two week window is the safest bet.
  • Most of your swelling and bruising will start to dissipate by week two or three after your procedure.
  • You should start seeing final results from your neck lift within one to three months after your surgery.

Our office will create a post-neck lift recovery plan to help you have the healthiest (and speediest!) recovery. Follow this plan right down to the letter, as it plays a crucial role in helping you get back to your normal schedule after your surgery.
