How Much Does an Eyelid Lift Cost?

Have you noticed drooping eyelids or undereye bags that make you look older? An eyelid lift can restore your eye area to its youthful appearance. It can treat many signs of aging in this delicate area to help you achieve an alert, bright-eyed look.

What is an Eyelid Lift or Blepharoplasty?

An eyelid lift addresses signs of aging around the upper or lower eyelids. Topical treatments and good skin care can keep signs of aging at bay for a while, but the sensitive skin around the eyes will eventually start to droop. You can rejuvenate this delicate area with blepharoplasty. This procedure provides long-lasting results that help you look younger and more awake. The procedure may even improve your vision if you have drooping skin that blocks your view.

How Much Does an Eyelid Lift Cost?

The cost of an eyelid lift varies depending on your provider’s skill, credentials, and location. The price will also depend on whether you have an upper blepharoplasty, lower blepharoplasty, or both. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons discusses several factors that influence the average cost of an eyelid lift. Patients should keep in mind there may be additional surgical fees, anesthesia, and other expenses. We recommend a consultation so we can provide a comprehensive estimate.

How Does an Upper Blepharoplasty Work?

This procedure addresses concerns like drooping skin, eyelid wrinkles, and sagging fat pads. An upper eyelid lift uses an incision hidden in a crease of the eyelid. When healed, the scar will become nearly invisible. Your surgeon will remove excess skin and fat that has succumbed to gravity over time. If you have significant drooping, you may find that you can see better without the skin blocking your eyes. Your eyes may also feel less tired without the extra weight of sagging skin. Your surgeon may use local anesthetic or sedation.

How Does a Lower Blepharoplasty Work?

This procedure can correct issues such as drooping skin, under-eye bags, and dark circles. A lower eyelid lift may use an incision inside the eyelid or under the edge of the eyelashes. Both are unnoticeable when healed. This can be a more complex procedure than an upper eyelid lift since the surgeon must reposition fat pads to correct hollowness and dark shadows. Lower blepharoplasty is more likely to be performed under general anesthesia.

Do I Need an Eyelid Lift or a Brow Lift?

If you have concerns about drooping and overhanging skin above your eyes, the problem may be your eyelids, brows, or both. An eyelid lift can dramatically improve the area around your eyes.

If you have “hooded” eyes obscured by drooping skin, you may benefit from a brow lift. This procedure improves the appearance of the brows and forehead, lifting loose skin and muscles. As a result, the brows are returned to their youthful position, opening your eyes and helping you look less tired. You can combine a brow and eyelid lift if you have concerns about both areas.

What Procedures Can I Have With an Eyelid Lift?

Many people who have concerns about their eye area choose an upper and lower eyelid lift. Combining the procedures allows you to recover from both simultaneously. It also allows the entire eye area to look brighter and more alert. An eyelid lift combines well with a brow lift, but you can also include it with other procedures. A facelift can erase signs of aging around the mid-face area, but it does not correct the eye area. Adding an eyelid lift can complete your rejuvenation.

What is Recovery Like After an Eyelid Lift?

Swelling and bruising often occur after an eyelid lift. Ice packs or cold compresses can assist in managing your swelling and discomfort. You will have a prescription ointment to apply to your incisions, and you will need to carefully clean them according to instructions. Most people can return to work within about a week. Your surgeon will let you know when you can resume your usual exercise routine and other activities.

What Results Will I See With an Eyelid Lift?

Swelling may keep you from seeing your full eyelid lift results for several weeks. Your results will continue to develop for up to six months. As the swelling fades, your eye area looks more alert and youthful. You will look more energized and feel more confident looking people in the eye. Correcting the undereye area can help you look less tired, erasing dark shadows and bags. Most people are satisfied with their eyelid lift results for a lifetime.

Am I a Good Candidate for an Eyelid Lift?

Most healthy adults make good candidates for an eyelid lift. You may be a good candidate if you want to restore your eyes to a more youthful appearance. We will provide you with information to make sure you have reasonable expectations about your results. You may not be a good candidate if you have certain health conditions or an eye infection.
