Top 3 Reasons to Get a Facelift

What is a Facelift?

A facelift, also known as a rhytidectomy, is an operation that tightens facial skin, removes excess fat (usually from under your chin and in your neck), and raises sagging tissues of the face. The surgeon will make a strategic and well-camouflaged incision around your ears to remove the extra skin before tightening underlying muscles, in order to give you a more youthful appearance.

How Does a Facelift Work?

A facelift may take anywhere from one to five hours, depending on the details of the procedure. You will receive anesthesia to prevent you from feeling any discomfort. During the surgery, the surgeon will tighten and lift the skin, remove or redistribute fat deposits, and remove excess skin that contributes to sagging or looseness.

Through small incisions usually hidden in the hairline or behind the ears, surgeons can access a large area of your face and neck. Depending on your individual needs, the procedure may include lifting the skin to improve contouring, distributing fat so it provides more fullness in desirable areas, and resolving excess skin that cannot be treated with less invasive procedures.

What Are the Top 3 Reasons to Get a Facelift?

Not everyone may be ready for a facelift yet, but if you have been considering the procedure, here are three good reasons why a facelift may be the right answer for you.

  1. Sculpting and Shaping the Facial Features

By tightening and lifting loose skin, a facelift can restore your natural contours, especially around the jawline and cheekbones. Your facial features will look more like they did many years ago, without the effects of gravity and aging.

  1. Looking Years Younger

With fine lines and wrinkles lifted away, your skin will no longer show these visible signs of aging. A facelift can restore the contours and skin firmness of much younger skin while erasing lines, wrinkles, sagging, and loose skin.

  1. Getting Powerful Results All From One Procedure

Few other procedures can offer the level of improvement equivalent to a facelift. While other procedures can help stave off the changes related to aging, only a facelift can actually lift and tighten the skin, remove loose skin, and readjust the facial contours.
