WHAT IS CHEEK & CHIN AUGMENTATION?

Cheek & Chin Augmentation is used to correct and contour the structure of your face to be more visually appealing. There are two methods used to perform a Cheek & Chin Augmentation: implants or injection. Both are designed to improve your appearance and create a more balanced look that you will find attractive.

RESULTS

Cheek & Chin Augmentation is ideal for individuals who are past adolescence, since the head and skull continue to grow during adolescence and this may impact the long-term appearance of the face. During your individual consultation, we can discuss the need for surgery, or injections, to better suit your specific needs.

The implant surgery is more complex, and will require sedation with anesthesia. This sedation prevents you from feeling any pain during the procedure, and ensures comfort during surgery. Our facial plastic surgery experts will place small incisions in the mouth in order to conceal any scaring.

They will then place the implants through the incisions. Once placed, the performing doctor will close the incisions. It is important to note that all surgeries are open to risks, but the rate of infection for surgical implants is less than 5%. These risks and others can be discussed further at your consultation to assess individual likelihood of risks.

The injection procedure can be performed in our office because of its simplicity. This option requires minimal downtime

For implant recovery, patients can expect to go home the day of their surgery. While patients are usually able to be up and about within 24 hours, expect to take up to 5-7 days off from work as you heal. We will prescribe pain medication to be taken during the first 24-72 hours following surgery, to ensure your recovery is as comfortable as possible. After this time period, over-the-counter pain reliever can be taken as needed.

For injection recovery, most patients require little downtime and can expect to return to work the same day.

Regardless of which procedure you choose, our office will be available 24/7 to help answer any questions if needed. Please don’t hesitate to call with any concerns as caring for you during recovery is our top priority.

Projected results can be seen before the surgery is performed. Computer imaging and simulation are available to help customize the implants. This technology allows our patients to see what the implants will look like and allow them to provide feedback on what they are looking to achieve. It should be noted that facial implants provide long-term results that injections simply cannot guarantee. During your individual consultation, we can discuss at length the results you want to see from either implants or injections.
