Difference Between a Mini-Lift and a Full Face and Neck Lift?

Many men and women that know they want work done are unclear about the wide variety of options available to them. Patients frequently come in requesting a full face and neck lift when what they really need is a mini-facelift and vice versa. At Specialty Aesthetic Surgery, we’re dedicated to providing individualized patient-centric care for optimal results with as little downtime as possible.

Before deciding which procedure may be more advantageous for your needs, it’s important to consider several factors. Depending on the extent of your cosmetic concerns, desired results, amount of healing time you have, and yes, your budget, one surgery may be better suited for you than the other.

Full Face and Neck Lift

A notable difference can be seen immediately following a full face and neck lift. As swelling subsides over the course of several weeks, a younger-looking you will begin to appear in the mirror. The combination procedure involves trimming unwanted fat, tightening underlying muscles, and removing excess skin. Although you’ll undergo a full face/neck lift as an out-patient procedure, you should plan at least 1-2 weeks off work. Results from a full face and neck lift are long-term lasting upwards of 7-15 years.

A full lift is ideal for patients with significant signs of aging. You may be a good candidate for a full face and neck lift if you have substantial skin laxity or droopiness in the mid and lower face, or below the chin.

Mini-Facelift

A mini-facelift has smaller incisions, less downtime, and a slimmer price tag than a traditional facelift. So, what’s the catch with this less-invasive alternative? Because incisions are smaller, your surgeon is able to correct fewer facial issues. The procedure typically entails adjusting fat pockets, repositioning muscles, and removing excess skin in a small section of the face. A mini-facelift can have a lifespan of up to 5-years.

Patients seeking to combat early signs of aging in the mid or lower face may want to consider a mini-facelift. A mini-lift can also be performed as a touch-up procedure years after a full lift.

The best way to determine what’s right for you is through an in-person consultation. Your surgeon will complete a full facial examination and talk to you about your end-goals. Based on this information, they’ll create a custom plan to help you achieve your desired results. Your procedure can be paired with a forehead lift, blepharoplasty, or fat transfer for more dramatic results.
