How Can I Permanently Get Rid of Bags Under My Eyes?

Many people don’t realize that blepharoplasty procedures can be done to rejuvenate both the upper and lower eyes. Although the majority of patients opt for upper blepharoplasty, a lower eyelid lift can produce dramatic, long-lasting outcomes. If you’re bothered by under-eye bags or dark hollows, it might be time to consider blepharoplasty at Specialty Aesthetic Surgery.

Eye bag surgery can give you long-term results. Most patients that have the procedure are happy with the results right away and do not seek additional treatment. The board-certified surgeons at Specialty Aesthetic Surgery routinely perform blepharoplasties of all types including aesthetic, functional, and ethnic procedures.

How Does Eye Bag Surgery Work?

Eye bag surgery is as unique as the patient. Your skilled surgeon will work closely with you to produce a naturally younger-looking appearance based on your facial anatomy. Your surgery may include one or more of the following; repositioning fat pads, volume enhancement, tightening underlying muscles, and/or removing excess skin.

Lower blepharoplasties are typically done on an outpatient basis. The surgery takes about an hour, and after a brief observation period, you’ll be able to recover in the privacy of your own home. Downtime is minimal with the surgery, but you should plan to take at least several days to adequately heal before jumping into your regular routine.

When Will I See Results?

You’ll likely be able to see some immediate improvement after lower eyelid surgery. However, you can expect initial redness, swelling, and bruising even when the best surgical techniques are enlisted. Most residual swelling should subside within 2-3 weeks, at which point you’ll see gradual improvement. An optimal outcome from eye bag surgery can take several months to fully develop.

How Long Does Eye Bag Surgery Last?

Eye bag surgery is a long-lasting procedure. In many cases, the results can be considered permanent, and you’ll only need one surgery in a lifetime to achieve a more youthful appearance. Patients that opt to combine their lower surgery with an upper surgery can see more dramatic results with a single procedure.
