How Useful is Image Simulation in Predicting Rhinoplasty Surgery?

Rhinoplasty surgery, commonly referred to as a nose job, remains one of the most popular surgical procedures asked for by both men and women. In the past, surgeons used a wide variety of before and after photos to help patients determine what route to take. These days, however, digital simulation is taking the reins and for good reason.

Image simulation can be beneficial to both patients and surgeons. Although it’s not perfect, computer modification can help with preoperative planning. At your initial face-to-face consultation, photos will be taken at multiple angles (frontal, lateral, basal, and three-quarter views). The photographs are then digitally altered to simulate post-surgical results.

Computer modified photos should not be looked at as a guarantee of the outcome. Instead, think of image simulation as a goal to work towards. Every patient has a unique healing process and structural abnormalities that can affect the end-result of your surgery. Your surgeon will do their best to ensure the best possible outcome for your individual procedure.

You’ll have the option to look over your final results alongside your digitally simulated images at various points of your healing process. The majority of patients note there is a close representation when compared to final postoperative photos.

Patients with realistic expectations about what rhinoplasty surgery can do for them are more likely to have an overall high-satisfaction rate. Most patients only require one nose surgery in their lifetime to achieve desired results. Rhinoplasty has the potential to give you a more balanced facial appearance and boost your self-image.
