Will A Brow Lift Leave Visible Scarring?

Many patients that come into our office seeking to improve the forehead area are concerned about potential scarring. When done correctly, this fear is generally unfounded. In most cases, a brow lift will leave you with little to no visible scarring. A brow lift might be right for you if you’re bothered by loose, sagging skin and/or wrinkles on the upper portion of the face.

Choosing a well-trained surgeon that regularly performs brow lift procedures is your best bet for getting the results you want without excessive scarring. Our board-certified surgeons meticulously work to ensure an optimal outcome each and every time. They use the latest, most advanced surgical techniques to maximize results with as little pain, scarring, and downtime possible.

Where Will Incisions Be Made?

Incisions are placed in locations that are easily-concealable whenever possible. During a brow lift procedure, that means incisions are made behind the hairline. Brow lift scars are generally invisible except in rare cases where the patient is experiencing excessive hair thinning.

Specialty Aesthetic Surgery enlists the help of endoscopic methods for brow lift procedures, making incisions often very small. However, it is important to note, no two procedures are identical. Your skilled surgeon will discuss the location of incision placement at the time of your consultation.

Will I Be Left With Scars?

The short answer is yes. As with any surgical procedure, there will be post-surgical scarring. The good news is that with a brow lift, visible scarring will be minimal due to well-hidden incisions. You may see pink or raised scars for several months at or behind the hairline following your surgery. Over time, scars will gradually fade and likely only be noticeable to you.

The best way to keep scars from worsening is to closely follow your surgeon’s post-operative recovery plan. This includes avoiding movements that may stretch or pull the incisions throughout your recovery as well as activities that promote excessive blood flow to the head.

Should I Get A Brow Lift?

That’s a decision only you can make. However, if scarring is your biggest concern when it comes to brow lift procedures, your fears may be unfounded. The majority of brow lift patients find the limited scars associated with the procedure to be well worth the benefits. One of our board-certified surgeons will be available to answer any questions you may have at the time of your in-person consultation.
