Facial Implants: How Long Do They Take to Heal?
Immediately after your facial implant procedure, you should expect to see swelling and bruising.
During your first week of recovery, we recommend getting as much rest as possible. We ask that you ice the surgical area frequently, as this helps reduce swelling, bruising, and discomfort.
We also ask that patients avoid wearing makeup for the first week of their recovery, as this could impact healing of the incision sites.
Strenuous physical activity should be limited in the initial several weeks following surgery, and increased depending on how healing is progressing.
When to Expect Facial Implant Results
Facial implant results can typically be seen right away, as once the implants are added to your desired treatment area, they’ll provide immediate contouring improvement.
The majority of swelling and bruising is going to dissipate in the first few weeks after implant placement. More subtle swelling is going to persist for a longer period of time. You should expect to see your final facial implant results in about four to six months after your treatment.
Good news: once you achieve your facial implant results, they are 100% permanent.
Good Candidates for Facial Implants
You’re a good candidate for facial implants if:
- You’re unhappy with your facial symmetry or the structure of your face
- You feel self-conscious about the appearance of your chin
- You want a more prominent and defined jawline
- You want sharper, model-esque cheekbones
- You’d like to smooth away the appearance of undereye bags
- You’re looking for more noticeable facial rejuvenation
In addition to the above, you should also be a healthy nonsmoking individual with realistic expectations for the outcome of your facial implant procedure.
