Botox®, Dysport®, and Xeomin® are injectable neuromodulators that are used to reduce or eliminate the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Xeomin® is commonly used for intramuscular conditions such as blepharospasm, or abnormal involuntary closing of the eyelid. Botox® is used to treat the appearance of facial lines and wrinkles, including crow’s feet by the eyes, frown lines between the eyebrows, and lines across the forehead. Dysport® is typically used to treat lines between the eyebrows.
Dissatisfaction with angry appearing brows and other facial aging.
These agents are administered with either topical (ointments) anesthesia or with ice compresses. The procedure typically takes 15-20 minutes. Patients are instructed not to manipulate the injected areas for 6 hours to prevent redistribution of the agent to other local areas. The effect begins 3-5 days after injection, peaks at 2 weeks and then lasts 4-6 months typically.
An extensive consultation and examination will determine the choice of procedures and other adjunctive techniques that will enhance the cosmetic results and the patient’s goals.
