WHAT IS BLEPHAROPLASTY?

Blepharoplasty, also known as an Eyelid Lift, seeks to remove and tighten excess skin found above and below the eye. When excess skin from our eyelids begins to sag, we can appear older, more tired, and in some cases, it can even impair vision. With an Eyelid Lift, our experts in facial plastic surgery can improve the appearance of your eyes and restore your field of vision.

Our Mission is to Provide World-Class Service

PROCEDURE
WHAT IS RECOVERY LIKE?
WHAT RESULTS WILL I SEE?

Candidates for an Eyelid Lift should be generally healthy adults who ideally do not smoke and have no existing eye conditions. If you are looking to reduce and tighten the skin above or below your eyes, this procedure can help. Candidates also include individuals whose loose skin is folding over the eyelid into the line of vision, which therefore limits eyesight.

We also recognize the various ethnic differences in eyelid and facial features. Dr. Moskowitz has extensive experience with Asian blepharoplasty and is the Oculoplastic Consultant to the Chinese American IPA and a member of the Chinese American Medical Society. Over the past 25 years, he has performed many thousands of eyelid procedures in his Asian patients with excellent aesthetic and functional outcomes

Our expert surgeons would love to meet with you for an in-person consultation.  Take the first step to getting your questions answered and to find out if blepharoplasty is the right solution for you.

Patients undergoing a blepharoplasty are usually given intravenous sedation with local anesthesia to ensure comfort during the surgery.  Incisions are then made to remove skin and excess fat is either removed or repositioned.  The eyelids are then tightened to restore a more youthful look and functionality.  The procedure can take anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours depending on your individual needs.  All surgeries are open to risks, even common procedures.  Risks associated with Blepharoplasty although rare, include infection, hemorrhage, skin discoloration, dry eye, and others.  We will discuss your likelihood for risks at your individual consultation.

Before the surgery, patients will be given detailed instruction on how to care for their eyes in the days following the procedure to help facilitate a smooth recovery. *Patients can expect to go home the same day as the surgery but should be prepared to take off work for a few days as they heal. We prescribe pain medication to be taken during the first 24-72 hours following the surgery.

Most patients are pleased with their results and do not seek additional treatment. Immediately following the surgery, there will be swelling and bruising around your eyes. This is normal and will subside over time. Once you are completely healed, noticeable differences will be apparent.
