BOTOX®, Xeomin®, Dysport®
Botox®, Dysport®, and Xeomin® are injectable neuromodulators that are used to reduce or eliminate the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Xeomin® is commonly used for intramuscular conditions such as blepharospasm, or abnormal involuntary closing of the eyelid. Botox® is used to treat the appearance of facial lines and wrinkles, including crow’s feet by the eyes, frown lines between the eyebrows, and lines across the forehead. Dysport® is typically used to treat lines between the eyebrows.
How It Works
Botox®, Xeomin®, and Dysport® are injected into the skin by a very fine needle. First, the treatment area will be sterilized. Then, the injection specialist will insert the needle into each specific muscle for a few seconds. Patients most commonly say this feels like a tiny pinch and only gives minor discomfort. Topical anesthetic cream can be applied before the procedure if necessary.
Areas It Treats
Botox®, Xeomin®, and Dysport® all have different formulas and are usually utilized for different areas of treatment. Some of these areas include:
- Forehead lines
- Frown lines
- Crow’s feet
- Bunny lines
- Marionette lines
- Chin “dents”
- Brow lift
Botox® is also approved to treat excessive sweating in the armpits, palms, and soles of the feet.
Patients typically notice results within two to three days following the procedure, but full effects don’t usually appear for about two weeks post-injection. Some of the benefits you can expect to see following a Botox®, Xeomin®, and Dysport® treatment are smoother skin with a lifted and more youthful appearance. On average, these results last four to six months.
