Lip Lift vs. Lip Filler: What’s the Difference?

Do you want a plumper, more kissable pout? Or are you frustrated by the appearance of lines along your mouth?

If so, there are plenty of options available to help you get the lips of your dreams. The two most popular options are the lip lift and lip fillers.

But what are the differences between the lip lift and the lip filler? And how do you know which one is right for you?

What is a Lip Lift?

A Lip Lift is a minor surgical treatment that creates the appearance of a fuller, plumper pout. During the lip lift, your plastic surgeon will make a few tiny incisions to help “pull” the upper lift closer to the nose. The surgery is fast and produces results that can be seen almost immediately.

By placing the upper lip closer to the nose, the lip lift can create the appearance of fuller lips.

What is a Lip Filler?

A lip filler is an injectable solution that uses hyaluronic acid to create a plumper, more youthful-looking pout. Lip filler can help address thinning lips, as well as smooth away the appearance of vertical lines (more commonly known as smoker’s lines).

Lip filler results aren’t permanent, but they can last between six to nine months.

What’s the Difference?

Perhaps the main difference between a lip lift and a lip filler is that the results from a lip lift are permanent. That means if you’re looking for a permanent solution to thinning lips, a lip lift might be the right option for you.

If, however, you want to “try out” how plumper lips may look on you, a lip filler may be a better option, as the results aren’t permanent.

Additionally, a lip lift is a minor surgical procedure that involves some downtime. With lip fillers, there’s no surgery required, plus you can go on with your normal routine immediately after your lip filler session.
