Will a Facelift Leave a Visible Scar?

If you’ve been interesting in getting facelift surgery but haven’t yet made the leap, it may be because one question is holding you back:

“Will a facelift leave a visible scar?”

We understand the trepidation. After all, no one wants visible scarring on their face if it can be avoided. And the last thing you want to do is to spend money getting a facelift done if the only thing people will notice afterwards is your scarring.

That’s why we’re here to explore the issue around facelift scarring, and whether or not people will be able to see yours. Let’s get started!

Will People Be Able to See Your Facelift Scars?

Facelift scars are camouflaged by clever placement, making them very difficult to see once they heal. Specifically, facelift incisions are placed:

  • Behind the ears
  • Along or within the hairline
  • Underneath the chin (in a natural crease)

The placement of your facelift incision will largely depend on the type of facelift surgery you opt for. For example, a mini facelift may only require an incision around the ears, while a full facelift may include incisions along the hairline and behind the ears.

If you’re concerned about facelift scarring, it’s a good idea to talk to your plastic surgeon about your questions. During the consultation period, your plastic surgeon can walk you through what to expect from facelift scarring, so you can feel 100% confident about your surgery.

Are You a Good Candidate for Facelift Surgery?

You’re a good candidate for facelift surgery if you have noticed a significant decline in your skin laxity, or you have moderate-to-severe facial folds, wrinkles, and more.

Facelift surgery can also improve the look of aging around the eyes, including if you have baggy eyelids or undereye bags.

Finally, you may see great benefits from facelift surgery if you have jowls or fat around the jawline. A mini facelift (or lower facelift) can do a lot to help address jawline issues!
