Can A Brow Lift Improve My Vision?

Although brow lift surgery is primarily considered a cosmetic procedure, it can be done for medical purposes as well. Many patients opt for the procedure to improve their vision after low-set eyebrows have begun to affect their field of sight. At Specialty Aesthetics Surgery, brow lifts are routinely performed by our highly-skilled surgeons for a variety of reasons.

Improve Your Peripheral Vision

Low-set eyebrows can be problematic for patients of all ages. The condition is commonly caused by genetics and starts to appear as early as our mid-30s. As we get older, our skin becomes thinner, and we lose much-needed elasticity on the upper portion of the face. The end result is deep-set wrinkles and heavy, low hung eyebrows that obstruct our peripheral vision‒all of which can be corrected with a simple brow lift procedure.

Brow lift surgeries are performed as an outpatient procedure under either general or local anesthesia. During the procedure, your surgeon will remove excess skin that’s limiting eyesight. Forehead skin and eyebrows will be repositioned higher on the forehead, and underlying muscles will be tightened for long-term results. As a result, patients achieve a more youthful appearance with brow lift surgery.

When Will You See Results?

You’ll see instantly noticeable results following your brow lift procedure. Your brows will be re-positioned higher, giving a more youthful appearance. As post-operative swelling subsides over the course of several weeks, gradual improvement will continue to occur. It can take upwards of several months to see the full results from your brow lift surgery.

A brow lift produces exceptionally long-lasting results. Most patients only need one surgery in their lifetime to correct low-set eyebrows. Enjoy a lifetime of better vision with a single surgical procedure.

Is A Brow Lift Right for You?

Although a brow lift cannot directly improve your eyesight, it can help improve your field of vision. If you are bothered by heavy, low-hung eyebrows, you may be a good candidate for the procedure.

Some patients may be better suited for an eyelid lift in addition to a brow lift for enhanced results. The best way to determine your candidacy for brow lift surgery is through an in-person consultation with one of our board-certified surgeons.
