How Long Does a Neck Lift Last?

Do you avoid pictures from the wrong angles in case they show your double chin or sagging neck? Many people feel self-conscious about their neck area. You can slim, tighten, and sculpt your neck with a neck lift. This procedure can restore your neckline to make you feel confident from any angle.

What is a Neck Lift?

The appearance of a double chin is a common concern. A neck lift tightens loose skin and removes unwanted fat to help your neck look younger and slimmer. This procedure uses hidden incisions to lift the skin, leaving you without any visible scars. A neck lift may be a good choice if you want to eliminate a double chin or turkey neck with long-lasting results.

How Does a Neck Lift Work?

You will receive sedation to keep you from feeling anything during your procedure. The surgery may last between two and five hours, depending on the details of your treatment plan. Your surgeon will use incisions to tighten your skin. Liposuction or other techniques are used to remove excess fat. Your surgeon will also repair the platysma muscles. These muscles can separate as we age, forming two vertical bands. A neck lift corrects this separation for a slimmer, more sculpted neck.

How Long Does a Neck Lift Last?

A neck lift has the ability to dramatically reduce signs of aging around the neck area. It resets your neck to its more youthful appearance but cannot stop aging from progressing. Your skin will show signs of age over time. Most people are happy with their neck lifts for at least ten to fifteen years. Some people may choose to have an additional procedure in the future to maintain their slim, contoured neckline. Others may remain happy with their results for a lifetime.

What Can a Neck Lift Treat?

This customizable procedure treats people’s most significant concerns about the neck area. As they age, almost everyone will develop signs of sagging and muscle separation in the neck area. Many of us have a tendency to accumulate fat under the chin. A neck lift can treat:

  • Submental (under the chin) fat
  • Separated platysma muscles
  • “Turkey neck”
  • Sagging neck skin
  • Loss of definition

A neck lift is a comprehensive way to address even significant issues with the neck area. People who have problems with the appearance of the neck commonly have issues with sagging skin in the lower part of the face as well. For this reason, a neck lift is frequently performed as part of a facelift.

Do I Need a Neck Lift or Facelift?

You may find that your areas of concern involve the jawline, cheeks, and mouth, as well as your neck. These areas can be addressed with a facelift. Surgeons commonly combine a neck lift and facelift to smooth and tighten the entire mid and lower face. Having a facelift and neck lift simultaneously provides a rejuvenated, sculpted appearance. It also reduces recovery time since you can recover from both procedures simultaneously. If you also have concerns about your eyelids, brows, or forehead, ask about other procedures, such as a brow lift, that can help you achieve your desired results.

How Much Does a Neck Lift Cost?

Factors that affect your cost can include your provider, location, and treatment details. You may only need skin tightening, or you may require layers of fat removal and muscle repair. This does not include anesthesia, medications, or other fees and expenses. We recommend a consultation to determine what type of procedure you may need and how much you can expect to pay.

What is Recovery Like With a Neck Lift?

Your recovery time will depend on the extent of your procedure. Most people will have bruising, swelling, and discomfort in the first few days. Most people can return to work within a week. You will still have some bruising and swelling, so keep this in mind when planning your recovery. Avoid heavy lifting or strenuous exercise for at least two weeks. Your results will continue to improve as your swelling resolves.

Who Can Benefit From a Neck Lift?

A neck lift makes a good choice for almost anyone who wants to improve the appearance of their neck. Ideal candidates are in good health and do not smoke. Smoking tends to affect the healing process. You may be a good candidate if you have concerns about a double chin, sagging skin, or neck bands. Depending on your concerns, you may be a good candidate for a neck lift and facelift together.
