How Long Does Swelling Last After an Asian Blepharoplasty?

While people of every heritage and ethnicity choose plastic surgery, some people of Asian descent opt for a procedure called an Asian blepharoplasty. This procedure lets these individuals feel more confident in their appearance and more satisfied with the appearance of their eyes.

What is an Asian Blepharoplasty?

An Asian blepharoplasty creates an upper eyelid crease that many people of Asian descent do not have. For people who want a more visible upper eyelid crease, this form of blepharoplasty can help. However, this technically challenging procedure should only be performed by a surgeon like Dr. Moskowitz, who has extensive experience with this surgery and achieving the desired results for his patients.

After thousands of Asian blepharoplasties, Dr. Moskowitz has the skill to provide the results people want while preserving their natural ethnic features.

How Does an Asian Blepharoplasty Work?

Dr. Moskowitz will use one of two techniques for your surgery, depending on your goals.

Suture Method

For those who want an upper eyelid crease, this surgery uses sutures to lift and arrange the skin to create a crease. This technique works best when the person does not have excess skin or fat above the eye.

Open Method

Dr. Moskowitz will make small incisions hidden in the upper eyelid to create a crease while removing excess fat and skin to eliminate the appearance of sagging or overhanging eyelids. This procedure combines many aspects of traditional upper eyelid surgery with the unique eyelid reshaping of the Asian blepharoplasty.

Your surgeon will choose the best procedure for you after a consultation and examination. For someone with loose skin or fat over the eyes, the suture method may not produce the desired result, so the technique depends on the patient.

How Long Does Swelling Last After an Asian Blepharoplasty?

After your procedure, swelling and bruising usually last about a week. You will be advised to avoid strenuous activities for four to six weeks and to protect your eye area from the sun to encourage healing.

What Results Will I See From an Asian Blepharoplasty?

After Asian blepharoplasty, people usually feel that their eyes look more open and expressive. The desired upper eyelid crease makes a noticeable difference in the appearance of the eye. However, the intent of this procedure is never to make someone look less like themselves. Instead, we strive to make people look more like the version of themselves that they want to be

Results are permanent, but the skin around the eye area changes over time, and so will the appearance of your results. These natural age-related changes should not undo the results of your Asian blepharoplasty.
