What Can Juvederm® Dermal Fillers Treat?

You may have some ideas about what dermal fillers can treat. However, you might be surprised by all the concerns Juvederm® dermal fillers can treat. These injectable fillers can add volume that smooths lines and wrinkles, plumps your lips, and sculpts your features. The Juvederm® Collection contains some of the most popular fillers to address a wide range of concerns.

What are Juvederm® Dermal Fillers?

The Juvederm® Collection is a group of dermal fillers that can defy aging and add definition to your features. Juvederm® fillers use hyaluronic acid, a material found naturally in your skin. This molecule can form cross-links that give it different properties. Dermal fillers are injected into the treatment area, where they add natural-looking volume. Juvederm® is the world’s most popular family of fillers and continues to offer innovative new formulas.

We offer Juvederm® as part of our full range of dermal filler options. This range lets us choose the best filler from several filler brands and formulations for your needs. Only your consultation can determine whether we recommend Juvederm® or a different product.

What Can Juvederm® Dermal Fillers Treat?

The hyaluronic acid in Juvederm® can behave in different ways depending on its properties. Each filler has a different thickness, flexibility, and resilience that make it better for different parts of the face. Many Juvederm® formulas include lidocaine, an injectable numbing treatment that makes injections more comfortable. Your Specialty Aesthetic Surgery expert injector will choose from the available fillers, including:

Juvederm® Volbella

This flexible, natural-looking filler can plump and define your lips. It can also fill under eye hollows for a more alert, rejuvenated look.

Juvederm® Vollure

This resilient but flexible filler treats moderate to severe smile and laugh lines around the mouth and nose, also known as marionette lines and nasolabial folds.

Juvederm® Voluma

This filler has the ability to provide volume and definition to the cheeks and chin. Your injector uses it to sculpt and define these areas to give you a stronger profile.

Juvederm® Ultra

This lip filler adds natural-looking volume that never holds back this highly mobile area. Your provider will choose between the Juvederm® lip options based on your treatment goals.

Juvederm® Ultra Plus

This filler treats moderate to severe lines around the mouth and other areas. It is often used to treat nasolabial folds and marionette lines.

Is There Any Downtime With Juvederm® Dermal Fillers?

Juvederm® dermal fillers require little to no downtime. You can return to work or other activities immediately. Follow your aftercare instructions so the filler has time to settle without being disturbed. Some people have minor bruising and swelling that fade within a few days. Avoiding alcohol, NSAIDs, and supplements that increase bleeding risk will reduce the likelihood of bruising.

How Long Do Juvederm® Results Last?

How long Juvederm® fillers last depends on the type of filler and area of the face. Fillers used in the lip area, which must be flexible and move naturally, often last up to a year. Juvederm® formulas used for lines and wrinkles may last one to two years. Formulas used for the cheeks, chin, and jawline can last up to two years.

Facial Fat Grafting vs. Dermal Fillers: Which is Best for Me?

People who enjoy the results of dermal fillers may consider facial fat grafting. This treatment uses liposuction to take fat from another area of your body and transfer it to the face, where it will graft and add volume that lasts a lifetime. Facial fat grafting makes a good option for those who prefer long-lasting results and are comfortable with liposuction to achieve their goals. Many people enjoy dermal fillers partly because they are not permanent. Hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvederm® are reversible with an enzyme called hyaluronidase that breaks down the material.

Do I Need Dermal Fillers or Botox®?

People sometimes wonder which type of injectable will treat their concerns. Juvederm® and Botox® treat different types of lines and wrinkles. Juvederm® treats static lines and wrinkles caused by skin laxity. Botox® treats dynamic lines caused by repetitive facial movements. Most people have both types of wrinkles, and many can benefit from both types of treatment. We will review all your options during your consultation and develop a comprehensive treatment plan.

Am I a Good Candidate for Juvederm®?

Most people make good candidates for Juvederm® dermal fillers. Hyaluronic acid is a widely used and safe filler material with an extremely low risk of reactions. Candidates for Juvederm® may want to address lines and wrinkles, thin lips, or lack of facial definition. You may be a good candidate if you are healthy and have reasonable expectations. You should not have Juvederm® if you have an infection or active skin condition in the treatment area.
